Fellow Federationists,
The National Federation of the Blind will give 30 college
scholarships to the nation's top blind students in its 2008 NFB
Scholarship Program during our annual convention next year. These
awards include the $12,000 Kenneth Jernigan Scholarship; 1
Scholarship for $10,000; 2 Scholarships for $7,000 each; 4
Scholarships for $5,000 each; and 22 Scholarships for $3,000
each. Each winner will be brought to the NFB annual convention next
July at Federation expense and will receive other useful gifts.

Please help me alert college-bound blind students in your community
(along with their teachers and parents) to the availability of these
30 scholarships. If you are an eligible student, please go to

The National Federation of the Blind is an organization dedicated to
creating opportunity for all blind people. To that end, recipients
of NFB scholarships need not be members of the National Federation
of the Blind. All scholarships are awarded based on academic
excellence, community service, and financial need. Individuals who
have previously applied are encouraged to apply again.

Going beyond scholarships, we have a great deal of information that
is freely available to any blind or visually impaired student who
has problems preventing that student from competing on an equal
basis in tasks that others perform with the use of sight. Please
share with these blind students my invitation to e-mail me directly
about any such difficulties so that I can help them network within
our organization with our problem-solvers.
